The Cape Central High School Beta Club attended the Missouri Senior Beta Convention on Friday and Saturday in Branson. The 42 Beta members who made the trip had the opportunity to listen to great speakers, compete in competitions, and help with a service project. Club members competed virtually and in person in over 60 different events and left the convention with numerous awards, multiple state champs, and even more national qualifiers. Betas that earn a 1st through 5th finish automatically qualify for Senior Beta Nationals this June in Savannah, Georgia. We would also like to recognize Jackie Zhang who earned the Missouri Beta Council Scholarship. This is the top scholarship given by the Missouri Beta Council. The council selected three Betas out of the more than 40 applicants to interview for the scholarship onsite at the convention. Each of the three received a minimum of $500. As the winner, Jackie receives an additional $1,500 from the council. Congratulations, Jackie.
The Missouri State Convention includes competitors and clubs from more than 100 different communities across the state and our CHS Betas did amazing against some very tough competition. Thank you to the wonderful teachers and faculty in our school district who have poured knowledge into these kids. We continue to be more successful each year because of you.
Mrs. Womack and Mrs. Criblez would love to recognize our two volunteer chaperones, Mrs. Heider and Mrs. Snider, who continue to support our Betas each year by getting kids to events, helping to stage living literature projects, making sure we have all of our art and display boards, and keeping track of the many bags and water bottles that our kids conveniently leave everywhere they go. They are absolute rock stars!
We are incredibly proud of what our club has accomplished so far this year and look forward to what these Betas can do on the national stage.
Thanks to the Civil Air Patrol, four of our JROTC cadets had the opportunity to fly this weekend. Overcoming weather delays and maintenance issues, we were finally able to take to the air. Cadets Patton, Klosterhoff, Miget, and McAdams took the controls to fly around the local area.
JROTC cadets volunteered to support the Noon Optimist Chili Dinner at Arena Park this week. Cadets helped make chili, serve chili and drinks, package to-go orders, and clean-up. Thousands of customers came to the event with all profits going to community youth programs.
Five members of the CHS choir sang at the Senior Night Men’s SEMO Basketball game! They did a great job.
The Black History Month presentation was amazing! Thank you to Te'Meiah Dorsey for all the hard work she did to organize it and all the performers.

Open gym for cheer has been scheduled for March
Due to a Spectrum fiber outage, many of our schools are currently experiencing disruption of service to phones, internet, email, and Wi-Fi. Spectrum does not have an estimated time of repair at this time. The phone lines in the main offices at schools are working, but please be patient as you call.
If you cannot get through to the main office at your student’s school and need to relay a message, you can call the Central Administrative Office (CAO) at 335-1867.
Thank you!
