“Mr. Abernathy brings an energy and enthusiasm to learning that is infectious,” said Dr. Howard Benyon, Superintendent of Cape Girardeau Public Schools. “His experience and plans to fully engage the community will be instrumental in growing participation at the CTC and expanding opportunities for our students.”

Abernathy holds a Specialist in Educational Leadership degree from Southeast Missouri State University, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from William Woods University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Health from Lindenwood University. He plans to continue his educational journey by pursuing a Doctoral degree in Education.

The Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center provides students with hands-on learning experiences and career-focused pathways designed to prepare them for both post-secondary education and the workforce. District leaders are confident that Abernathy’s leadership will continue to strengthen these programs and build meaningful connections with local businesses and industry partners.
