At the March 24th Board Meeting we recognized a number of Tigers for being extraordinary. The Cape Central Girls Swimming team was honored for a third place showing at State despite having just four swimmers qualify this year. Coach Powell talked about their incredible performance at state! Cape Central Academy's Tracy Merickel was recognized for being named the Southeast Missouri Multi-Level Counselor of the Year. Cape Central students Cyrus Boxdofer and Emily Floyd were celebrated for earning the Distinguished Student Leader Award from the Missouri Association of School Councils. This honor recognizes students who demonstrate superior student council leadership skills and knowledge based on the organization's criteria and evaluation procedures. Cape Central Choir Director Jake White introduced us to a number of the talented students how qualified to represent our school at the state level. Not all students were able to attend Monday's board meeting. We also celebrated our March Terrific Tigers! Congratulations to all of these outstanding students and staff members! We are so proud of you!

What makes CT so special? Our people! Meet Tina and Terri Wright, the incredible mother-daughter duo who help hold our district together! Tina Wright (CHS Class of 1982) began her journey with Cape Schools in 1999 as our first-ever parent liaison before becoming an administrative assistant at Franklin Elementary. Today, she serves as the District Registrar, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Terri Wright (CHS Class of 2001) started as a parent liaison at Franklin Elementary and also taught preschool before becoming an administrative assistant at CHS. The Wright family legacy runs deep—Tina’s four children are proud CHS graduates, and she’s had five grandchildren attend our schools. With her mother also being a Cape Central alum, that makes four generations of Tigers! Tina and Terri are known for their warm, friendly demeanors and unwavering Tiger pride—you’ll often see them at games and school events decked out in orange and black! We’re beyond grateful for these inspiring women who continue to call CT home. Now, we want to hear from you! Share your Tiger pride by emailing tallentk@capetigers.com with a picture in your Cape Tigers gear and tell us what you love about our school district. Parents, guardians, community members, staff, and alumni—everyone is welcome! Let’s celebrate the people who make our district exceptional!

Thank you to the amazing guides from the Cache Bayou Outfitters for taking these students on the water and sharing their passion for local wetlands. This learning activity was made possible thanks to the Cape Girardeau Public School Foundation. We would also like to thank EPIC for providing bags for the students to use out on the water. We love when learning comes to life and provides exciting experiences for students.

The ABCToday Network recently hosted the Entry Level Employment and Career Fair at Cape Central High School, connecting 900+ students with 30+ local employers. Students explored job opportunities for teens, high school graduates, those interested in trade programs, and college-bound students. This year’s event also provided valuable "how-to" resources on getting a driver's license, obtaining vital documents, and applying for a passport — helping students take the next step toward their future.
